Photovoltaic FAQs
Will PV Solar panels work during the winter? What’s the difference between PV and other solar energy technologies? Why should I consider a PV solar system? What happens when I produce more electricity than I need? How long does the install take? Can I cancel my contract after signing?
What is renewable energy?Renewable energy is Energy flows that occur naturally and repeatedly in the environment and can be harnessed for human benefit.” Put simply, without depleting the earth’s resources.
Will PV Solar panels work during the winter?A: Yes. Solar panel manufacturing technology has now advanced to a level that panels will now produce green electricity even in an overcast cloudy day.
What’s the difference between PV and other solar energy technologies?A: PV solar panel systems convert solar radiation directly into electricity by means of PV cells made from semiconductor materials. Wet solar systems (water heating), use a solar collector that faces the sun and is used solely for heating water. They are not as efficient as PV solar systems and if the heated water is not used then the energy created is lost.
Why should I consider a PV solar system?A: PV solar panel systems are easy to install with minimal disruption and have no moving parts so they are also maintenance free. PV is now a mature technology, is guaranteed at 80% efficient for 25 years plus, creates no pollution and is silent when operating.
What happens when I produce more electricity than I need?A: When your Solar panel system produces more electricity than you need, the surplus will flow back into the national grid. Your electricity supplier will pay you extra for this surplus power, to reduce your future electricity bills.
How long does the install take?A Solar panel installation up to 4kW should take no longer than 1 day – typically the installation team will be in and out in a day depending on the design requirements.
Is there much disruption? There is very little disruption when installing a system array, most of the circuit is completely separate and therefore your existing electrics will remain the same until the final connection to the distribution board but this will be only for a short while.
Can I cancel my contract after signing?A: Yes, a customer has 7 working days from the date the contract was signed to cancel without incurring any costs, the terms and conditions are on the back of the contract.
